Biobased PE factory - Triunfo, Braskem

Plastics, a necessity in today’s economy, are normally produced from crude oil products. Many of the materials utilised to date can also be made from renewable resources. In recent years, the plastic industry’s face began to change: many biobased plastic materials have been developed. Bioplastic materials can be processed into a vast number of products using conventional plastics processing technologies. The process parameters of the processing equipment have to be adjusted to the individual specification of each polymer.

The use of bioplastics can reduce the impact on the environment and offer a broad range of functionalities optimised for each type of application. Already today, roughly 85 percent of plastics can technically be substituted by biobased plastics*.
